A FINE FIRST IN GREY WRAPS. Number 23 of 500 copies. SIGNED. Grey stiff paper wraps, clean, bright and tight, covers slightly rubbed and edge worn, 5 1/2" x 8-1/2". with reproduction on front cover of "Monument for Noon" from the author's one man show in New York, Nov. 1961. Photo of author by George Barrows on rear cover. "Interim Books, 1962" rubber stamped on copyright page. From introduction by Ray Longin, Associate Prof. of English, Long Island University: "Iron Ark straddles a paradox.the paradox of a modern BESTIARY.does modern man both worship and contemn the forces which have made the world of the 20th century." The title of the twelve prose-poems include "Pile Driver", "Steam Roller"; "Man-Hole", etc. his Iron Ark in place of the animals in Noah's Ark. KIRBY CONGDON, born in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 1924, was poet, artist, co-founder and publisher of "Interim Books". His other books include "Juggernaut", 1962, and "Dream-Work", 1970.
